You’ve finally booked that Fall Mini Session and you know it’s going to be absolutely adorable and sweet and the perfect way to treasure this season with your family—you’re so excited about portraits but the wardrobe planning can be overwhelming at times. Relax and take a moment because I’m going to make it sweet and simple for you. Let’s break down the wardrobe choosing process for you so you can enjoy your session and plan with ease!
The most important element is making sure you and your family are comfortable. An itchy sweater makes for an angry toddler, or pants that are too tight might make dad a tad moody ;) Focus on comfort while also following your distinct natural style. If you never wear leopard, today may not be the day, and that’s okay! If you have a more bold style, let’s encourage that in your portraits while making you guys the focus not just your outfits.
Tips:
- Mix one or two patterns as a way to tie in other colors
- Sticking with neutrals and just a few colors makes things super easy
- Don’t stress about being too matchy, coordination is key
- Try to start with a favorite piece or maybe a dress you found on sale that you love and work from there. Sometimes just beginning is the hardest part!
- When it comes to shoes, consider the location and type of ground you will be shooting in. If it has rained recently, consider shoes that won’t be ruined if any moisture gets on them.
- Check the weather ahead of time. Especially in Florida, you can count on it being potentially warm so it may not be a good time to break out full-on sweaters and scarves. Opt for layers so you can adjust as needed.
